Kollywood is waiting with bated breaths to see whether ‘Thala’ Ajith Kumar and ‘Ilaiya Thalapathy’ Vijay would lock horns at the B.O., this year. Both the superstars, with millions of fans all over south India, are busy with their 49th films–Vijay with ‘Vettaikkaran’ directed by newcomer Babu Sivan and Ajith with ‘Asal’ by Saran.

After three consecutive flops–’Azhagiya Thamizh Magan’, ‘Kuruvi’ and ‘Villu’–Vijay is badly in need of a blockbuster to retain his superstar status. As for Ajith, his last film, ‘Aegan’, was an average hit.

The Vijay film is touted to be a racy action flick whereas the Ajith film will be a suspense story. Ajith plays two roles in the film–that of a cop and his lookalike who takes others for a ride. Vijay is happy that this time the load of expectations on his film is lighter.

Malayali stars Prithviraj and Bhavana come together in Priya V’s next. The duo had acted together for the first time in ‘Swapnakkoodu’ in Malayalam, directed by Kamal.

Bhavana has been scouting for meaty roles in Tamil for quite a long while, as offers dried up after the superhit, ‘Jayam Kondaan’. She says it was because she refused to do glamour roles.

Bhavana, one of the busier actresses in Telugu, has another Tamil flick in the pipeline, ‘Mahatma’. She hopes that this film will give her a big break in Kollywood.

Tamannaah Bhatia is taking South Indian cellulloid by storm! Come ‘Ayan’, and Kollywood would literally dance to the tunes of this Bollywood dropout.

The bubbly teenager, who started her acting career with ‘Chand Sa Roshan Chehra’ at the age of 13, became a star overnight following the release of ‘Happy Days’ (2007) in Telugu.

This Valentine’s Day is going to bang with three Tamil films named as ‘Siva Manasula Sakthi’, ‘Kudiarasu’ and ‘Perumal’ hit screens in Kollywood.  It is a Valentine’s Day’s special for all lovers as well as to movie goers.

First, ‘Siva Manasula Sakthi’ (SMS), will be a perfect movie for Valentine’s Day because it deals with the young love story but in a different manner. Jiiva and Anuya Bhagvat are in the lead and they share a wonderful onscreen chemistry and music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Next we are going to see about the director turned upcoming actor Sundar C’s ‘Perumal’. He is doing the lead character with the fellow of Namitha and Meenakshi. It’s going to be a normal masala movie for viewers with item song, dance, emotion, action and all with the glamour of Namitha.

Finnaly, we let to see about an action cum thriller movie ‘Kudiarasu’.  It’s about the film of kickboxing as well a thriller movie. Vigneshwaran is the hero in this fast paced action movie.

Recently South Superstar Rajinikanth watched special show of ‘Naan Kaavul’ in Chennai. He was totally bowled over by the depiction of an ‘Aghori’ sanyasi life in this movie and songs. He reportedly called Director and Arya to his house and congratulated his work of for the film. He also added Arya lived the life of ‘Aghori’ sanyasi in his movie with naturality. Because we all know he is adequate traveler to Himalayas and he met several ‘Aghori’ sanyasi’s whenever he goes there. In addition to this, he shot off letters to the duo, commending them on their excellent performance.

Nowadays our Tamil film industry is emerging with lots of talented directors in a rapid growth compared over past few years. Of these one of the well known Directors for all is Myshkin, star-director in Kollyhood. He is famous for his recent debut such as ‘Anjathae’ and ‘Chitiram Pesuthadi’.

Now he was busy with his new project titled ‘Nandalala’. Almost he finished his film and waiting for the post production and release date. After that he planned to do his film with actor Surya, mega budget movie costing Rs 35 crore.

Myshkin likes to launch his new film, titled ‘Mugamoodi’, soon after the release of his ‘Nandalala’, but actor Suriya asked director to delay this project for some period, until he finish all his previous engagements. So Myshkin planned to try the film with other hero’s in the Kollywood. But producers are not interested in doing this movie other than Surya.
The budget for that film has to be revised according to the market value of the new hero.

Kollywood stunner Dhanush is riding high on his way with his recent success of ‘Padikkadhavan’ by Sun Pictures. Next he planned to do film with his brother Selvaraghavan’s titled ‘Malai Nerathu Mayakkam’. It’s a character based role instead of his recent masala movies.

But now Dhanush is on the top list next to Vijay in Kollywood industry and he may be the Next superstar of Tamil Industry also. So Sun Pictures eyeing for cast Dhanush as the hero in their next couple of films. So that Sun Pictures will benefit more in their film business compared over Television side. Now Dhanush and SUN Pictures crew members promoting his latest debut of ‘Padikkadhavan’ movie by going from place to place in  Tamilnadu. The tours have become great hit as Sun Network gave them maximum publicity.

Everyone knows Kollywood beauty Shriya Saran is busy with her upcoming debut ‘Kandhasamy’, the mega budget film by Susie Ganesan, for past one year with Vikram. The recent gossip of that movie is, she has wearing a costume and jewellery worth of Rs 4.5 crore for a stunning song sequence. Already the film has crossed the marked budget but now the Director is spending too much money for this song sequence.

Shriya Saran’s costume for one of the scene of that song was worth nearly around Rs.26 lakh and the jewellery, Rs.4 crore. Crore rupees spent on jewellery do not make for many a furrowed brow nowadays. Also the shooting for the film is almost over and is all set for release for the next month.

Has Sana Khan become too expensive for Kollywood?

The Mumbai girl made an impressive debut in Simbu’s Silambattam, which has now become a hit. Sana Khan’s plus points include her ability to dance, which won her a lot of appreciation. She was noticed by many film makers, who approached her with the idea of casting her in their movies with upcoming stars.

But, it’s learnt that the actress openly stated that she wouldn’t mind her role and co-star, but wasn’t willing to compromise on her salary, which is Rs. 20 lakh! Given the meltdown scenario in the industry, filmmakers are hesitating to pay her such a hefty salary. It seems unless the actress reduces her salary, she will have no other option but to remain at home in Mumbai as a one film wonder!
