LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran made two last-minute attempts to escape to India or Malaysia, but these came too late as the Sri Lankan Navy had put up a effective naval blockade by then. These failures left no option for Prabhakaran, who had earlier hoodwinked and outmaneuvered the Sri Lankan security aparatus, to stay put in the northern war zone and fight to the last.

Prabhakaran made these attempts as Sri Lankan forces made major advances into the rebel-held territory this year, naval spokesman D K Dasanayake told PTI. “He had attempted to flee to India or Malaysia but he couldn’t as the Navy has strengthened its vigilance,” he said.

Media reports had earlier said that the LTTE leader may try escape to a South Asian country thorugh sea route. Prabhakaran’s body was yesterday recovered near a lagon in Puthumathalan in the northern region.

terror

A study by a leading US organization RAND has warned that India can expect more terror attacks like the Mumbai carnage from Pakistan-based terrorist groups with high body counts and symbolic targets in an escalating terror campaign in South Asia in the following years.

The RAND study identifies the operational and tactical features of the attack, evaluates the response of Indian security forces, and analyzes the implications for India, Pakistan and the United States.

In addition to this, they reported Mumbai is India’s commercial and entertainment centre, and the attacks on landmark properties amplified the psychological impact. One of the main lessons of Mumbai is that it exposed numerous weaknesses in India’s counter-terrorism and threat mitigation structure.

Are you able to guess what the reason is?

John and Katrina did not have any identification proof with them. To add to their embarrassment, the bouncers had paid no heed to their words when the actor told them that they were top films stars from India. The story goes that John and Katrina, accompanied by Kabir Khan, director of New York, went to a night club. The trio, however, had to go back and fetch some identification proof, a 60 minute drive from the night club. By the time, they returned, the party had almost ended. They stayed at the night club for some time, but sadly, the night had already spoilt for the top film stars from India.
