‘Kandhaswamy’, starring Chiyan Vikram and Shriya Saran in the lead, is gearing up for a mega release next month. The big budget action extravaganza, shot extensively in Europe, has been directed by Susi Ganesan.
The sound track of the film is slated to be released on May 17 and the movie will hit the theatres on June 12, post IPL-2. The film will be another landmark in the career of Vikram, who has been keeping a low profile since the flop of his ‘Bhima’. The superstar has sung four songs for the film. He appears in a few very different get ups in the film, including that of a beautiful lady and superman. The music and the background score has been composed by Devi Sri Prasad. The film will be released as ‘Mallanna’ in Telugu.

Vishnuvardhan, who treated Kollywood to a slick visual treat in ‘Billa’, tries his best to make ‘Sarvvam’ astechnically perfect as a Hollywood film. And he has succeeded in his efforts, it seems. The only dampener is the lack of a gripping script, very much necessary for a thriller.
The director tells the story through five characters–an IT professional Karthick (Arya), Dr Sandhya (Trisha Krishnan) whom he tries to woo, Easwar, (J.D. Chakravarthy), Naushad (Indrajeeth) and his son Iman (Rohan). The director explores the role fate plays in shaping the future of these five people.
Upto the half way mark, Vishnu is establishing his characters. Then a freak accident takes place and the story takes a different turn; it becomes a thriller. The film has been immensely helped by Nirav Shah’s spell-binding camerawork, Yuvan Shankar Raja’s haunting background score and stunning action choreographed by Thiyagarajan.
As for acting, Arya impresses with his carefee, easygoing ways. Trisha has nothing much to do in the script. JD Chakravarthy as the villain looks menacing, but not very convincing. Though the script meanders in between, the film is worth a watch as the director has made an attempt to rework the success formula in Kollywood!

Suriya, after back to back blockbusters in ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’ and ‘Ayan’, has signed for Hari’s ‘Singam’. He will play a police officer in the film. Earlier, Suriya played a police officer in Goutham Menon’s ‘Kakka Kakka’ and the film was a super hit.
In ‘Singam’, Tollywood hottie Anushka Shetty plays the female lead. Devi Sri Prasad will score the music and Priyan cranks the camera. The film is being produced by Gnanavelraja of Studio Green and BIG Pictures.
Hari, who had directed Suriya hits ‘Aaru’ and ‘Vel’, wielded the megaphone for Vikram’s cop film ‘Samy’, a mega hit.

Hi all….!!!!!!!
Malayali stars Prithviraj and Bhavana come together in Priya V’s next. The duo had acted together for the first time in ‘Swapnakkoodu’ in Malayalam, directed by Kamal.
Bhavana has been scouting for meaty roles in Tamil for quite a long while, as offers dried up after the superhit, ‘Jayam Kondaan’. She says it was because she refused to do glamour roles.
Bhavana, one of the busier actresses in Telugu, has another Tamil flick in the pipeline, ‘Mahatma’. She hopes that this film will give her a big break in Kollywood.

It was perhaps an experience of a lifetime for over 40,000-music lovers as Oscar winning music maestro A R Rahman launched his worldwide ‘Jai Ho’ tour in Kozhikode, holding them enthralled with a range of popular hits from Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam movies.
It was a musical extravaganza this Kerala town has never seen before as music lovers from across the world thronged the corporation stadium last night to see their idol perform for the first time after winning a double Oscar for his score in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.
Such was the response of the crowd that Rahman himself acknowledged at the end of the show that he would be delighted to return to Kozhikode once more. The show is the first of the 39 such live shows to be conducted by the maestro all over the world during the next five years.
The show was enlivened by the participation of noted playback singers Hariharan, K S Chithra, Benny Dayal, Rashid Ali, Javed Ali, Mohammad Aslam and Sayanora who sang 30 popular songs from Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam movies. But the song that had the audience on their feet was undoubtedly the Oscar winning ‘Jai Ho’. The proceeds of the world tour would be spent for the welfare of HIV-positive children.

Warner Bros has backed out of the Venkat Prabhu film, ‘Goa’, putting co-producer Soundarya Rajnikanth in a spot of bother. Warner Bros was earlier upset with Soundaya’s Ocher Studios for signing up Jai, an actor banned by the Tamil Film Producers’ Council. Though the ban on him was lifted later, fresh trouble arose as the Indian partner refused to part with information with regard to the script, stars and budget.
Though the Hollywood major has opted out of this film, their association with the other projects of Ocher Studios will continue, including ‘Sultan, The Warrior’, it is learnt.
‘Goa’ stars Jai, Vaibhav, Premji Amaran, Aravind Akash, Sneha, Pooja and Julie. Yuvan Shankar Raja scores the music.

Vishnu Vardhan’s ‘Sarvvam’, starring Arya and Trisha in the lead, has been cleared by the censors with a ‘U’ certificate, without any cuts. It was feared that Trisha’s bikini-act shot in Goa might be objected to by the censors. But the scene has been retained, it is learnt.
Vishnu Vardhan, who has directed the much acclaimed ‘Billa’, has done another high quality film in ‘Sarvvam’. Nirav Shah’s cinematography will be another highlight of the film. For Arya, on cloud nine after the thumping success of Bala’s ‘Naan Kadavul’, this action film will open the gates to superstardom.
The producers, Ayngaran International, would release the film only after the Lok sabha elections and IPL finals, it is learnt.

After Tamannaah, it is the turn of sultry siren Reema Sen. She has made it very clear that she will not be acting in Vishal’s ‘Theeratha Vikayattu Pillai’. But she was not willing to divulge the reasons for her change of mind to the media persons.
The film by debutant Thiru has three heroines and Reema was supposed to play the first female lead. Though it was earlier said that Bollywood hottie Bipasha Basu would be one of the heroines, later her name was replaced by Tamannaah’s. The latter reportedly declined the offer the other day as she had reservations about sharing screen space with two other female leads.
Reema has the same problem that Tamannah has. She had burnt her hands in Simbu’s ‘Vallavan’, another three-heroine movie.
